ConQueR© Suicide Connect-Question-Respond A Suicide Awareness and Intervention Program for Law Enforcement Professionals • Discusses the need to shift focus from Departmental interventions to individual responsibility • Explores statistical risk factors associated with professional law enforcement • Considers an anthropological view of suicide and Developmental factors that contribute to the “Five Pillars of Police Suicide” • Debunks common myths of suicide • Encourages participants to express their experiences with suicide • Examines risk factors that increase suicidality • Highlights both the common and more subtle suicide early indicators or warning signs or suicide • Discusses observational failures that result in suicide • Teaches how to use active listening skills to connect with the person at risk • Explores why law enforcement professionals are resistant to revealing vulnerabilities • Instructs how to ask the person at risk directly about suicide • Offers Response options

Mission statements
The COnQueR Suicide Awareness and Intervention Training Program for Law Enforcement has as its mission to promote suicide awareness and prevention in the law enforcement community by focusing on "reaching in" vs. asking officers to "reach out." Teaching officers to look not only at stereotypical indicators of suicide, but more subtle warning signs and consider the entire person from genetic, developmental and environmental perspectives.
